I've worked with gang involved young people starting in Uptown Chicago since 1993. I am currently working in the Southern United States as a foster care counselor and gang counselor / consultant for the area. I also have been able to assist various organizations and community groups internationally in understanding how gangs work, what is needed to address gang issues, and understanding youth violence in our culture. I also train organizations on understanding various violent group profiles, terrorism related issues, and threat management.
I love my gang kids. I have a great passion for helping kids in gangs. I was fortunate enough to grow up in a loving family which only makes me feel more driven to help others less fortunate to find real love. I'm not a pushy or preachy counselor and will give advice if asked or just listen when needed. I believe that so often the key to good counseling is just being a good listener, just being there.
